Ferdinand de Baeder was an aero inventor and aviator. He was editor in chief of the Revue sportive de l'Aviation and co-director of Office d'Aviation.
De Baeder was born in Bern of French parents. In 1894 he went into the military and served in Algeria for four years. He was a cycling enthusiast.[1][2]
He received his French pilot's license in 1910.[3] The same year (on 20 August) he was gravely wounded in a biplane accident at Cambrai.[1]
