Hugo Eckener was the longtime top manager at Luftschiffbau Zeppelin starting in 1917 when Ferdinand von Zeppelin died to about 1930.

He was the first to fly an airship around the world. In the 1930s he was anti-Nazi and would not let them use Zeppelin facilities.[1]
