Christopher Hatton Turnor. Astra Castra: Experiments and Adventures in the Amosphere. London: Chapman and Hall, 193 Piccadilly. 1865.

Online at Internet Archive.

A history of aeronautics focused mostly on Montgolfiers through time of writing.

Astra Castra = [the] stars [my] camp. From "Astra Castra Numen Lumen", motto of the Lindsays, Earls of Crawford.

The book repeated a made-up story crediting David Rittenhouse and Francis Hopkins of Philadelphia with the first balloon flight in America.[1]
