Deutsche Versuchsanstlat für Luftfahrt E.V. (German Experiment-Institution for Aeronautics; DVL, not to be confused with DLV; Registered Organization) was founded in 1912, a year of significant expansion and militarization of aeronautics in Germany.[1]

Wilhelm Hoff was director of the airplane division.[2]
