This was a technological category for French patents maybe till 1880. Category 6 had marine navigation and grew to include aviation, aerostation, aerial navigation.
Around 1879 category 6 was split into categories 6.1 to 6.3, and later 6.4 was added. Let's get the timing clear here.
6.3 may not have appeared until after 1879; an 1870 CdB refers to 6, but not 6.3.
In 1885 (some) aeronautics patents fell under 6.3, "Marine et Navigation. 3. Gréement, Accessoires, etc"; 6.4 existed but was used for port works—relatively unrelated to aeronautics.
6.4 later became reserved for aviation and aerostation.
