British chartered patent agent J. Owden O'Brien was a successor to and late of W. P. Thompson & Co. of Manchester, U.K., for which O'Brien was the patent agent.[1]

We have this individual acting among witnesses to American patents filed by Henry Shepley Booth, with someone O'Brien serving as the patent attorney.[2][3] That these O'Briens have a more than fair chance of being connected professionally and otherwise is one matter. That J. Owden O'Brien acts as Booth's patent agent in Great Britain and acts among witnesses to his patents filed in the United States is analogous to patterns we have established in the cases of French filing in the United States, with their French patent agents, or members within the firms, serving among witnesses. As we see below this J. Owden O'Brien serves as a Patent Agent on behalf of Henry Shepley Booth when the latter files in Great Britain.

Whether J. Owden has any connection to the American O'Brien complex fleshed out around Alfred J. O'Brien would be another matter, less definite, but very feasible.

Patents for which J. Owden O'Brien was the patent agent

In the case of Patent GB-1893-4589 it's not completely clear (based on the source Abridgment of patent specifications), whether O'Brien was the "patent agent" or the "applicant person" (or how much of a distinction there was at the time.)
