E. J. Marey. La machine animale: locomotion terrestre et aérienne. Paris: Libraire Germer Ballière, 17, rue de l'école-de-médicine, 17. 1873.

Deals with locomotion in light of physiology, starting with basic principles. Book three, starting on page 187, covers aerial locomotion, beginning with insects, and with the majority of pages dedicated to birds.

Some of the material, including illustrations, is similar to the contents of Marey, 1872, Lectures on the phenomena of flight in the animal kingdom. These probably come from Marey, 1970, Le Mécanisme du vol, a series published in L'Aéronaute.
