Orville Wright to Griffith Brewer 31-Aug-1912
Wright acknowledges receipt of a copy of the Aeronautical Journal sent on 10 August. He says the whole family liked Brewer's article. He also acknowledges two previous letters.
He replies indirectly to R. M. Ruck to Wright Brothers 16-May-1912, in which Ruck suggests that the Aeronautical Society of Great Britain publish the Wrights' early papers. Wright says no thanks because they're keeping their early information secret until the patent disputes are settled.
As to the publication of the tables and other scientific data which Wilbur and I collected in the early years of experimenting, I do not think it would be good policy for us to publish them until we secure a patent adjudication. At the present time it is the possession of this information that keeps our Company at the head of aeronautical work in America, and it is the only advantage it possesses over our competitors until we are able to enjoin others from the infringement of our patent by law.
Orville hopes that Brewer will visit in the Fall, anyway, even if he's not publishing their papers on behalf of the Aeronautical Society.
