An unusual case of hydroplane used to refer to a whole vessel, which can take off from water as well as skim on it. This is really a hybrid of a rigid airship and a boat. (Hence it would not be correct to call it a hydroaeroplane.) Short patent without as many details as one might want, but charming illustrations.
