Pierre de Balaschoff (1847 – 6 March 1900) was an ancestrally Russian patron of French aeronautics. He had a wide range of interests, memberships, decorations, etc., and was a founding member of the Société de Géographie.[1]

He made a balloon ascent with Georges Besançon aboard the Sirius in July 1891. He subsequently funded the creation of a 3200-cubic-meter balloon called the France-Russie (seemingly for his use), and a 1700-cubic-meter balloon, known as the Balaschoff for the use of Besançon and associated scientific meteorologists.[1]
