Rudolf Mewes was an aero author, and was variously characterized as an engineer or physicist.

Among his professional publications, not listed by Brockett (or below), was The elementary physics of ether (Die elementare Physik des Aethers). This may refer to the physics of air, whether or not it addresses aeronautical issues such as aerofoils.

According to a google search for Rudolf Mewes attempting to find whether he was a professor, one finds the assertion in this work that he was a staunch supporter of the Kaiser: Milena Wazeck, Translated by Geoffrey S. Koby. [1], The world riddle solvers, Published online by Cambridge University Press: 05 December 2013, apparently chapter 1 of Einstein's Opponents: The Public Controversy about the Theory of Relativity in the 1920s. The book text is available here. A table on page 13 lists Mewes as an opponent of Einstein (meaning some theory of Einstein presumably), and describes Mewes as an engineer not a physicist, and says Mewes had his own conflicting theory.

Some of his works are listed at VIAF: https://viaf.org/viaf/34818303/

Several sources indicate that he was born in 1858, e.g. [2]

Some of his works are associated with Humboldt University: [3] This person had 40 publications and 0 patents in this database.
