William Samuel Henson

William Henson (3 May 1812 – 1888 was an aero inventor known for design of the Arial with John Stringfellow.

Henson's design included the use of an airscrew for propulsion; a wire-braced frame with stabilizers; and tricycle landing gear.[1]
