“The principle consists in pushing backwards and under pressure, a certain quantity of air stored first in the interior of the device; this repressurization is obtained by a movement from bottom to top, in the case of the balloon, and from top to bottom, in the case of the airplane, of the mobile part of a bellows or air-propelling mechanism.”
