Affiliations
In some cases we don't know the exact nature of the groupings of affiliation with professional bodies, and there may be some overlap with accreditations, which largely have an academic character. We are learning the qualifying criteria involved in these, variability in the abbreviation protocols, different degrees of membership, and relations between these markers of affiliation. A few of these below may actually be accreditations.
- F.C.S.
- M.I.M.E.; M.I.Mech.E.; A.I.Mech.E.; A.M.I.M.E.; M.Inst.M.E.
- A.M.I.C.E.; M.Inst.C.E.
- M.I.E.E.
- F.I.C.P.A.
- M.T.I.
- R.P.A.
The "M" in A.M.I.C.E. and M.Inst.C.E. and the first "M" in M.I.M.E., M.I.M.M., M.I.Mech.E., A.I.Mech.E., A.M.I.M.E. and M.Inst.M.E. stand for "Member", and apply largely to patent agents, though the overlap into inventors is of interest. If treating them as affiliations is the policy this would have to be factored into the patent agent template.AvionHerbert (talk) 09:37, 7 January 2025 (PST)
Foreign Member of CIPA is also a membership, pertaining to patent agents, and among accreditations, and therefore accreditations being a status marker inclusive of, though not exclusive to, per se academic degrees.AvionHerbert (talk) 09:12, 19 February 2025 (PST)
